A study of how each gender has been stereotyped has been carried out by Williams and Best in 1982. Williams and Best conducted a large-scale study of gender stereotypes. Men and women were asked to judge three hundred different adjectives that describe human behaviour and decide whether they would generally associate it with males or females. From this, Williams and Best were able to find which adjectives best described our gender stereotypes.
