One of Freud's most fundamental assumptions, Physic determinism, was partially based on Brücke's ideas. Physic determinism states that all behaviour has a cause, and that the cause is found in the mind. Freud's work in Psychology was very similar to another influence - Darwin's work on evolution. Freud was convinced that human motivation was based on biological based innate-drives. When it was discovered that repressed memories and behaviour had a connection, Freud proposed that awareness was divided into different levels of consciousness.
