With the help of this document for the first time, the rights of the ruling king were reduced in 1215. This document contained statements of the nobility who forced king to promise to follow certain rules such as raising taxes only with the consent of the nobility. Nevertheless, after that there were harsh conflicts between monarchy and parliament for four centuries until 1688's glorious revolution, which ended these struggles for power and the dominance of parliament over the monarchy was established. However, out of Magna Carta's 63 articles most dealt with the problems of nobles and rich landowners and only few of them considered problems of common people.
