Many white people would only lease their houses to white and criticise against the black, as there were no principles as yet to preserve the minority against racism. As an outcome of the 'colour bar', immigrants had very microscopic choice, if any as to where they could live and how much rent they would have to pay. Many people who came from the colonial states were skilled, however due to discrimination many ended up with inferior rank jobs than that which their qualifications empowered them to do.
