The media became interested in the murders from an early stage in the investigations, one of the things that attracted media attention was the way that the press were able to put a name to the killer, not the killers real name, as this is unknown, but the press used the name 'Jack the Ripper'. This would have made the whole thing seem like a movie to many, the name Jack was and still is an ordinary everyday name and the thought of the killer being an ordinary person was an unbelievable thought for many.
