They felt they were being blamed for something that was not their doing. They felt other countries caused the war and that they shouldn't have to take full responsibility for other countries actions. A German soldier was sent to sign the Treaty. However at the sight of that term he said, "to say such a thing would be a lie." Another term saw Germany's armed forces being almost shred into tiny pieces. The army was now limited to 100,000soldiers only. 6Battle Ships was the maximum amount allowed; plus submarines and the air force were completely banned.
