It would seem, however, that at no time was consent given by the Aborigines for the settlers to take the land permanently. From this origin, conflict stemmed from the different uses to which the Europeans and Aborigines put the land, the level of co-existence possible, and the intentions of the Europeans towards the Aborigines.
