While researching and reading "The Odyssey" I have taken note of the many codes and customs that the Achaeans had to abide by in Homeric Society. As I have studied "The Odyssey" and read it thoroughly, I have noticed that hospitality was a major custom of the Achaeans but not only was it just a custom; it was what had to be expected from the people of the society. My studies have helped me conclude that the reason why hospitality was so important is because; one never knew when an unexpected guest might be a god, either disguised as a mortal person or watching them from above, judging how well the host is at treating their guest.
