This lets the audience know how powerful Creon is The Chorus say that man is the most powerful object, in the world but never as powerful as the Gods. This part of the sub-plot sets up for the fact that Creon believes he is superior to the Gods. The Sentry re-enters and brings Antigone to Creon. The Sentry says "We've got her. Here's the woman that did this deed. We found her in the act of burying him" Creon cannot believe his eyes and still hassles the Sentry because Creon believes that the Sentry is lying as he thinks his own niece wouldn't betray him.
