The belief in angels is evident in Judaism and Christianity as well as Islam. In Islam Angels are servants of Allah. At the time of the creation of Adam, all the Angels and Jinn's were commanded by Allah to bow down before Adam. The fact that the Angels did not possess a free will made them obediently bow down. Their bowing down was a sign of obedience to Allah and respect to Adam. They bowed down except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the Jinn's.
