There are three areas of theory relating to aggression, the biological drive, response to frustration, and the one that states that aggression is learned. The biological theory considers evolutionary advantage, genetic influences, biochemical influences and neural influences. The response to frustration theory by Dollard et al in 1939 believed that frustration was the drive, that it occurs when an individual cannot achieve a goal, and that as a result this increases frustration which leads to aggression.
