The protesters were protesting against the 21 demands, supporting the boycott of Japanese products and also protesting against the people who agreed to the demands. But the movement was not simply a protest. Its effects created a sense of nationalism among the Chinese people; many newspapers and magazines were made to show of China's heritage and the need to create a better nation. There was also more intellectual ideas rising up in China; many foreign books were translated into Chinese and many foreign intellectuals lectured about their ideas to the Chinese. Anti-imperialistic, anti-Japanese and Nationalistic feelings began emerging, and perhaps this was also what partly enhanced the creation of the CCP.
