Anti bodies are proteins made by the bodies' white blood cells to attack foreign invaders, such as viruses and harmful bacteria, to keep the body healthy. These neutralise or destroy toxins and organisms carrying diseases. If in the future, the body comes in contact with a disease the immune system will have the anti bodies to fight the disease. Passive immunisation is given when the bodies own immune system is not working. This is the bodies defence system which protects the body from diseases, bacteria and viruses. Due to the immune system not functioning in order to produce antibodies, white blood cells can not be generated therefore they are not active.
