Under Welchman's plan Enigma work was based upon two Huts. Abbreviated details of intercepted messages were sent to the registration room in Hut 6 by teleprinter. Each person concentrated on their role and Hut 6's job was to break the key and turn it into plain text. Once completed, the messages were sent to Hut 3, often making no sense. Later the huts had to be manned 24 hours a day. Most people in Hut 3 were linguists who identified German words from scraps of text and fit them into a readable message. Then messages would be given to MI6 in order of priority, depending on how important the message was.
