First, codes were picked up by wireless stations in Britain, these stations were called the Y service (the messages received were in Morse code) the codes collected were sent to Bletchley Park. Here, the codes were passed on to Hut 6; ciphers were centred on receiving signals and then trying to decode them. After the codes were decoded, they were sent down to Hut 3. Hut 3 was responsible for translation and dispatch. Hut 3, at its peak, had some 580 code breakers working. Intelligence officers were mostly linguists and had to deal with not only German messages but often Italian and Japanese.
